In this story, "Local man pushing for more black education in the schools", she talks about how somebody by the name of Kenneth Longdon is upset that his nephew's school in Coralville doesn't recognize Black History Month, which isn't until February.
Nowhere in Tara Bannow's stupid, idiotic, racist, time-waster of a story does she give any background on Kenneth Longdon.
This is from LexisNexis, State of Iowa, Court of Appeals, filed November 26, 2008:
I. Background Facts & Proceedings
On August 22, 2004, Frankie Smith received a telephone call from his cousin, Kenneth Longdon. Longdon was upset that Smith was associating with "white people." Smith invited Longdon over to his apartment if he wanted to discuss this problem further. Shortly, Smith's live-in girlfriend, Jennifer Walker, heard Longdon yell "hello" through an open window. Smith went outside the apartment building.
Jessica Pitt and Tylnn Wright [*2] were walking by. They observed and heard an argument between two adult men. Pitt recognized Smith (known to her as Cane) as one of the men. Smith said, "Let's take it over there," and the men walked towards another spot. As they were walking, the other man stabbed Smith in the chest with a "shiny object" (later determined to be a steak knife). Smith ran from Pitt and Wright's sight with Longdon in pursuit. Smith was struck with the same object in the back of his neck. Pitt and Wright proceeded to Smith's apartment and told Walker that Smith had been assaulted.
Smith was transported to the hospital. The stab wound to the chest, caused a collapsed lung. The neck wound required several stitches. Smith identified Longdon as the assailant to the investigating officers. He added that as he was running, Longdon pulled a handgun, but had fallen. Smith was able to escape across the street. Police officers later found a .25 caliber handgun by the apartment complex's dumpster.
Longdon was charged with attempt to commit murder and willful injury causing serious injury. Longdon was offered dismissals of the greater offense of willful injury causing serious injury and the attempted murder charge in [*3] exchange for a plea of guilty to the lesser offense of willful injury causing bodily injury. During formal plea proceedings, while the jury panel was assembled awaiting selection, in response to the court's inquiry, Longdon asserted his plea was "Not guilty." The plea proceedings were terminated and trial ensued on December 20, 2005.
You've got to wonder just how stupid Tara Bannow and her editors think we are. Don't they run a search of the guy's name into Google, much less the Iowa Court Search web site?
I've seen a number of these race-obsessed stories coming out of the Press-Citizen lately. I'm sure they're also coming out of the Des Moines Register, too, as Gannett seems to spread their obsessions around, but I quit reading that rag. My blood pressure just cannot stand it.
This blog has mentioned many stories over the years where the reporter leaves out important information about who the article is written about. It's always criminals These reporters are so stupid or jaded that they think nobody else can look this shit up.
Tara Bannow, you should be fired. You're a goddamned disgrace to your profession.
