When Keeping It Real Goes Wrong

From the Cedar Rapids Gazette:
A jury has been selected in the attempted murder trial of Derrick Roberts, 23, of Chicago, in Linn County District Court...

...Roberts is charged with attempted murder, intimidation with a dangerous weapon and willful injury causing serious injury. He is accused of shooting Delores Smith, 50, of Cedar Rapids, May 2, 2009 while she was in a parked van in the 1200 block of Third Avenue SE. Smith was seriously injured in the shooting.

This case is about the choices Derrick Roberts made last year when he felt disrespected after being hit by a powdered sugar donut and decided to take revenge, Assistant Linn County Attorney Jason Burns said in his opening statement.

It started at the Mission of Hope when the Allen family came to the shelter to get some items April 29, 2009, Burns said. Mildred Allen ran into Roberts who was outside the mission as she was eating a donut and decided she didn’t want it, so she tossed it and it accidentally hit Roberts’ pant leg.

Burns said Mildred Allen and Roberts got into a verbal argument and then her family joined in. The Allens then left but it wasn’t over for Roberts. He called his friend to get a gun and a friend who had a car, Maria.

“Roberts, his brother and Maria drive around the south side (of town) looking for the Allen family,” Burns said.

Roberts finally finds the family parked in a van outside of Mildred Allens’ house on 3rd Avenue SE.

“Mildred goes inside and the other members stay in the van, including Lovie Allen, his mother Delores Smith and her 3-year-old grandbaby,” Burns said.

Roberts and his friends pull in a back alley, he pulls up his hoodie and sneaks up to the van with a loaded gun, Burns said.

“Witnesses will testify he said ‘Now, Mother F……’ and then riddles the van with bullets.”

Register Editorial Board: "Kagan Seems Qualified For The Supreme Court"

"Kagan Seems Qualified For The Supreme Court"

That was the headline in yesterday's Des Moines Register.

What a hoot!

And who would know better than The Justices At The Des Moines Register?

What's even funnier is parsing the editorial:
President Barack Obama settled on a "conservative" pick for the U.S. Supreme Court...

It's too early to say with certainty whether Kagan should be confirmed, but she seems more than qualified...

Kagan's liberal credentials are not really in doubt...

She is hardly a radical...

In any case, by replacing the court's leading liberal justice, Kagan would not change the ideological makeup of the court...

it is unfortunate that Obama did not look for a nominee from outside the tight circle of northeastern products of elite Ivy League schools with careers in academia and government...

As the third woman on the nine-member court, Kagan would, however, bring gender balance...

Yes, gender balance.

Let's have another look at the makeup of the Des Moines Register's Editorial Board:

Yes, gender balance.

The hypocrites actually said that.

Anyway, you knew that the nitwits on the Editorial Board would have to misuse the word 'conservative' right off the bat. Plant it in the people's heads: "she's conservative!" or Obama's pick was conservative!

What a crock.

The Register knows that Kagan will be a reliable liberal who will wipe her ass with the Constitution any chance she can get.

Kagan is there because she's another Poison Ivy League Socialist crony of Obama's from the Chicago days. She's there to keep all the left-wing crap from this Congress and this President in place.

Kagan's nomination should be ridiculed and filibustered, although I suspect a lameass Republican or two will fold and she'll get on.

Rapist-Enabler Roxanne Conlin Closing In On...... 40% In KCCI Poll

Is it me or is this KCCI poll and story a laugh?
A new KCCI poll released on Thursday shows the race for Sen. Charles Grassley's seat appears to be heating up even before the Democratic primary.

Grassley is still leading the race with 49 percent, but Roxanne Conlin appears to be closing in with 40 percent.

"In no re-election race has Grassley had less than 65 percent of the vote, so his races are always walks in the park," said Dennis Goldford, KCCI political analyst.

Oh, yes, Dennis Goldford. From Drake University.

He's a real winner.

Check out some of the comments on Goldford from RateMyProfessor.com:
Goldford is not easy and can be very cocky.

Goldford has to be the most arrogant teacher i have ever encountered. The class is dry and boring. In the end the only thing that is made clear is that Goldford thinks very low of you and what you are capable of accomplishing.

It is clear Professor Goldford is a very intelligent man, but nobody knows this better than Goldford himself. It's clear to see that he has a very large ego.

Goldford is an egotist. He teaches his opinion as fact, and only wants you to repeat his own thoughts. He doesn't want to initiate discussion, or create intellectual development, he just likes to hear his own voice.

doesn't let you think for your self. Must write exactly what he wants in the way that he wants it, in order to get a B-.

Does Goldford pay these people to put positive reviews? I didn't meet anybody that would write anything like this behind his back. These people really buy into his theory, but when they start criticizing other peers they are only stooping to his level of ignorance. The truth is he sucks as an undergraduate professor and he's NOT almighty.

It's a shame that most Politics majors have to take Goldford at some point. Very unhelpful out of class.

Professor is classic egomaniac, and extremely orthodox. You better be a liberal or a conservative for this class, and that means only democrat or only republican. If you question the status quo, you threaten this guys very reason for existing.

Take this class, if you would like to meet the devil incarnate. Spoonfeed this baby back all the crap he serves you if you want to do well. He loves himself and what he says and wants to read his own ideas in your papers. What a prick.

I had Dr. Goldford four years ago, and I can still remember how much I despised his course. He spends most of his lecture time advertising his own credentials and seems more concerned with intimidation and self promotion than teaching his students.

Totally unhelpful. Arch-typical ivory tower dwelling elitist who thinks he's Gods gift to the unwashed cretins around him. Avoid him like the plague.

But that's not the only douchebag that KCCI relies on for political thoughts:
Iowa State University political science professor Steffen Schmidt said the debate over health care reform may have had an impact on those poll numbers.

What kind of moron thinks that opposing health care reform would bring down Grassley's numbers? 54% oppose it in the latest Rasmussen poll.

Grassley's numbers are down because he's a corrupt old fart who has been in politics forever, not because of anything else.

But at least he's not a rapist-enabler like Roxanne Conlin.

As far as the numbers are concerned, Grassley grabs more Democrats than Conlin does Republicans, and the Independents swing hugely towards Grassley.

What are we talking about? Conlin doesn't have the nomination. Sure, she can raise money, but that's not going to translate to a victory.

Tom Brokaw Gets Honorary Degree From The University Of Iowa For His Year Of "Beer And Coeds"

According to the Iowa City Press-Citizen, the University of Iowa is going to dole out a number of honorary degrees this spring. Such recipients include C. Vivian Stringer, former UI women's basketball coach, former US poet laureate Robert Haas, moneybags/nameplate John Pappajohn, some Greek guy, and retired NBC news reader Tom Brokaw.

Brokaw dropped out of the University of Iowa after a year in the late 1950s and later famously remarked that he majored in "beer and coeds" during his time in Iowa City.

Here's Brokaw doing what he did best: trying to not say the word "bukkake":

And here's Brokaw saying that "tax cunts" are not the answer:

Does The Des Moines Register Know What Article IV Section 4 Of The Constitution Says?

It's not surprising that the Des Moines Register, whose reporters and editors are all pro-amnesty and "open borders", would write a huge article on Saturday about a small number of anti-American protesters in Ames carping about the new Arizona law designed to enforce our nation's immigration laws.

I bet the idiot leftists involved with this "protest" at ISU have never heard of Article IV Section 4 of the Constitution:
The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.
When you have people crossing our borders illegally, it is an invasion.

If the Feds aren't going to protect the States, then the States have to do something about it.

Americans cannot do this if they want to go to Mexico. So why should Mexicans and others get away with it in the United States?

That's something idiot "reporters" like Lee Rood of the DMR never ask these moronic protesters at ISU.

Instead, we get column inches of political babble.

And does "reporter" Lee Rood give a history lesson of Chuck Grassley, who voted for amnesty for illegals back in 1986? No, there's no history lesson given.

Look back a few years ago with the raid on Agriprocessors in Postville. The anti-American assholes in the media in Iowa fell all over themselves to support the illegals and the employers who exploited them. It's sick!

And no wonder, what with former Governor and anti-American asshole du jour Tom Vilsack dreaming up insane schemes like this back in 1999:
In 1999, Iowa's Governor Tom Vilsack proposed that his state be allowed a special federal dispensation from existing immigration laws, so it could import hundreds of thousands of foreign workers. Not messing around with pretense, Vilsack admitted that cheap labor is his goal. His concerns are for Iowa's business corporations, that desire to avoid paying the kind of wages that would have to be paid to American workers...

Several polls of the public show that most Iowans oppose a policy of encouraging immigration. Yet, as might be expected, members of the media have fallen right in line with the Governor's campaign for mass immigration. One such is columnist and editorial board member of the Des Moines Register, Shirley Ragsdale. She has cleverly attempted to make the issue one of race guilt. Could it be, she implies, that Iowans just don't want "diversity?" Calling those who oppose current immigration policy "xenophobic," she then goes on to paint Iowa residents as backward types in need of greater cultural "sophistication." One wonders if "sophistication" is a quality that workers bound for meat packing plants are likely to inspire.
So there you go.

The far left has a very tiny playbook. Whether it's the anti-tax, anti-big government, anti-bailout, anti-$2 trillion deficit TEA Party crowd or whether it's amnesty and government bennies for criminal illegal aliens, if you oppose them they will brand you as XENOPHOBIC or RACIST or BIGOTED.

Listen, I've got no beef with Mexicans or others who want to come to America to work. I don't blame you for wanting to get out of your shithole country and to make a better life for yourself or your family.

The problem is that there are many people who have spent years following the law and doing it the right way. Amnesty for illegals would be unfair to them. Why? Because so many criminal illegals would be given amnesty. Oh, sure, they can write the next amnesty bill any way they want, but don't think there isn't some La Raza-affiliated defense attorney wanting to keep Mexican drug dealers and criminals who are currently in prison in the US after they are released.

Another problem is that our Federal government and certain politicians in particular states don't want to deal with the problem. Like Vilsack, they love the cheap labor. They love companies exploiting workers. That's more money for their own political coffers. So who cares how it's made unless something politically troubling arises?

But for me the biggest problem is that politicians and certain anti-American "open the borders" groups are just using illegals and supporters of that cause as political pawns. I call them political slaves. Oh, golly gee, we don't want to offend the Hispanic vote, whatever the hell that is. Both Democrats and some Republicans pander to this nonsense, and it's sickening. All of those assholes need to be given the boot in the next election cycle, and then we need to take the bottom of that boot and crush it down on their skulls. These people are worthless, good-for-nothing scumbags. Political slaveholders. I don't have time for any of that.

Update:

In Googling Erica Palmer's name from the DMR story, I noticed that she was claiming to be part of something called Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement. In going to their web site I saw a name I recognized: David Goodner, the Jew-Hater and professional protester, who now lists his "job" as "community organizer". No wonder the DMR ran this story. "Reporters" like Lee Rood at the DMR will beg and roll over when any one of these anarchist/fascists calls them.
