Bruce Braley Is Tone Deaf

The DMR had another stupid article on Sunday that got some quick quotes from a couple of Iowa Congressmen about how the political landscape has shifted since Obama ruined the chances for pretty much every Democrat across the country in the 2010 races and beyond.

I love the quote from the sweaty, creepy-looking Bruce Braley. Something about how Democrats need to do a better job of explaining the benefits of the stimulus package.

If you look at Recovery.gov, the lousy web site with fake zip codes and fake Congressional districts to see where the money has been blown, you'll see that in Iowa almost all of the stimulus money has gone to school districts.

I was clicking around on the map and found some town called Numa in Appanoose County in southern Iowa. The town of Numa got $99,000. I've never heard of Numa before. How big could it be? 109 people in the entire town!

For the location of all "businesses" in Numa, total award for the location was $238,741. $10,269 went to the Chariton Valley Electric Cooperative, which is enough to "save" two jobs. Wow, they pay for crap. $30,387 went to something called Bear Creek Archeology, enough to save 0.90 jobs. But wait, Bear Creek is based out of Cresco, which is located on the exact opposite end of the state near the Minnesota border!

Hey there, Bruce Braley, do you or any other Democrat want to explain what the heck is going on here? And could you hurry it up because we want answers before we kick you out of office.

The rest of the Braley quote in the article is typical Democrat-bot-speak. "Blah blah blah, health care, blah blah blah, Washington, blah blah blah, jobs, blah blah blah, lost their homes, blah blah blah."

Shut up, Braley. You look sweaty and are kind of creepy-looking.

Anybody announced against Braley yet? Why yes, a 30 year old Republican lawyer from Independence, Ben Lange, has announced. Whoever gets the Republican nomination likely has a slam dunk at becoming a Congressman. All you have to do is attach Bruce Braley to Obama, which is easy. Then pass this out to everybody you meet:

Democrats are going to get destroyed in the November elections. Michael Barone and Charlie Cook are predicting doom.

Leonard Boswell Retiring?

Although there's been speculation for quite some time, Redstate.com also indicated that Leonard Boswell might be on the Democrats' ever-increasing list of 2010 retirees.

Maybe even Nancy Pelosi! Wouldn't that be sweet?

Who could take the Third District seat in Iowa?

There about 8 millions Republicans and Repubicans ponying up for the primary. Good luck to them all. Whoever wins the nomination will surely win the seat, barring anybody accidentally making a sex tape with Ramona Cunningham.

Hello Iowa, Would You Like To Own An Old Broken-Down Meatpacking Plant?

A bunch of stupid politicians in Sioux City who need to be reminded that we're broke are lobbying Culver's office about having the State buy the closing John Morrell meatpacking plant in Sioux City.

"Hey, that's a great idea!" said Senate Majority Leader Mike Gronstal, Democrat, who put down his crack pipe for a second.

"Let's explore some options!" said Christopher "I've more fiscally conservative than Terry Branstad" Rants, the Repubican thug who ought to be sitting in prison.

What could possibly go wrong?

I've always repeated the failures of the Iowa Agricultural Finance Corp, which was supposed to be a venture capital-like fund in the early 2000's, but was really little more than an extended exercise in burning taxpayer dollars.

You stupid politicians. How many times do Iowans need to say "No mas!" for you to understand?

This sort of dumb idea needs to be shot down immediately.

Where Did You Go, State 29?

I got burned out.

The other problem was that I read too many newspapers. I scaled that back after I quit blogging. For the most part, I quit reading the Des Moines Register entirely.

Every now and then I take a look at the DMR, but it's just a disgusting mess. Not only does their website suck, but so does the content. Making fun of those idiots like Rekha Basu and, I can't even remember their names except that they're cows, became too easy.

After a while, in order to stay sane, you have to ignore them.

Look at the comments on a lot of those stories in the Register. A lot of them feature that old guy named Sam Osbourne. He's such a stilted dumbass that responding to his nonsense makes you feel like you've actually stepped down. So you stop responding and then, eventually, reading.

Then you have those jerks at the DMR and other places complaining about copyright and acting like a digital bully with their DMCA notices.

You notice how those newspaper web sites get rid of stories and opinions after about 30 days? Then you have to either pay or find some library that will get you into their older database. Forget that. These gatekeepers regard all news as evanescent. In reality, we ought to be able to easily quote and have it out there because you can't trust these politicians, opinion-makers, and other liars. I'm not willing to be a guinea pig for a legal challenge. Better to let the digital bullies die because of their own stupidity.

As for the future, I will always have opinions and I need an outlet for them. I won't quote, I'll summarize. I'll link when I know the information isn't going to get wiped out next week.

I think about the next 9 or 10 months. We are going to have some tea parties, aren't we? The voters are going to throw a lot of bums out come November. Do you think Iowa will get rid of that preening obamabot, Bruce Braley? Or that bearded pickpocket and PAC tool, Dave Loebsack?

What about the State Legislature? Are places like Ackworth finally going to dump that ultra-liberal State Senator Staci Appel? She's up for re-election, isn't she? She barely won in 2006, if you remember.

Oh yes, another Big Ass Speech by Obama tonight. You know, I could really give a flying duck about what Obama says anymore. I didn't like him before the election and I hate him now. I might get into that some day, but you all know the reasons why he sucks. Why should I regurgitate it? Nicholas Johnson, a Democrat, had Obama all figured out in June of 2008, so go back and read that.

If you want to say hello or "screw you" anonymously rather than in the comments (which I never read), the address remains the same: state29@gmail.com

Roxanne Conlin For Senate?

Two posts in one day from State 29.

There's a reason why.

I'm sure, unless you have some sort of blocking program on your web browser, that if you look around you'll see the words "Roxanne Conlin For Senate" around the perimeter of this here blog.

Is that for real? Has she/he filed yet?

THIS is the Democrats they can do against Chuck Grassley?

It's worth pointing out time and time again that Roxanne Conlin had her dirty little hands in the first Pierre Pierce rape case, enabling the thug to escape jail time and stay on Steve Alford's Iowa Hawkeyes Men's Basketball team before he later got busted for sexual assault and taking his girlfriend's "f***ing laptop".

So the best the Democrats can run against Grassley is a dirty lawyer who helped get a deal for a serial rapist?

I can see the ads now: Elect Roxanne Conlin, She's Pro-Rapist Choice!

State29's Take On Terry Branstad Running For Guv Again

I understand the political realities of Terry Branstad wanting to run for Governor of Iowa again: The Republicans in Iowa run absolutely lousy candidates every chance they get and the Big Lug is beatable in a climate where even Iowans got sick purdy damn quick of Hopenchange. If anybody can beat the Big Tub, it would be The Moustache.

Besides, who are the Repubs going to run again? That guy Suckup? Vander Plaaaats? Paul "cover it with hair dye" Pate? That jerk Christopher Rants? Import the vegan Gopher (Fred Grandy) back from suburban DC? Some d-bag that nobody has heard of? Actually, "some d-bag that nobody has heard of" might be a good choice.

Look at the Braindead record. When Braindead got into office, the sales tax in Iowa was 3%. By the time he left Terrace Hill he agreed to raise it 67% more, to 5%. Cigarette tax doubled. Gas tax skyrocketed. And he kept Iowa's anti-business high corporate tax rates where they have been since 1981. Yes, keep electing those fiscally conservative, low-tax Republicans.

Oh, and Charles and Jean McCullough are still dead. What a whitewash job was done on Terry's lousy-driving son Eric back in the early 90s.

It is somewhat unfair to shine a light on those accomplishments of Braindead, but it does pale in comparison to the utterly reckless Vilsack years. Vilsack, who drained every rainy day fund and then some in order to pay out taxpayer-financed corporate welfare to politically connected friends and other money-burning exercises.

At least they aren't trying to bring back Robert D. Ray for a "softy moderate, let's import more refugees from hellhole countries" victory lap.

Back To The Future

Four years ago, then-Governor Vilsack wanted to increase the state budget by a whopping 6.1%. What did this blog say then?
A 6.1% increase seems awfully high. You can't sustain that sort of growth in government without massive tax increases upon the working population or stealing from every "rainy day" fund around, something Vilsack has already done.

What happens when the economy goes sour? The politicians will want to continue that sort of spending rate or be faced with accusations that they're starving children when everybody but the State employees are out of work.

Maybe we should take a poll of working Iowans. We could say, "Did you get a 6.1% raise in pay last year?" And if a majority of Iowans say NO then Governor Spendaholic and the drunken sailors under the gold dome should be forced to ratchet things back a bit.
As we now know, the Legislature couldn't ratchet things back at all. Governor Big Lug had to impose "circumcision" style budget cuts (10% off the top of all departments), and today the DMR was reporting that Culver was making wild assumptions about how some state gummit reorg bill was going to save $300 million.

Never mind that Culver convinced the Democrats in the Legislature last year to borrow $800 million for that I-JOBS scam.

Kind of like Obama The Dummy running the deficit up to about $2 trillion dollars and then promising to cut it in half eventually. Maybe.

The Return Of State 29

After a year and a half break from blogger burnout, the State 29 blog is back. It'll cover Iowa-centric and national issues as it related to the state.
