Todd Dorman has excellent analysis of the Iowa Chamber Alliance's wish list for the 2011 legislative session, particularly past wish lists and how they've failed. I'd love to hear the Tax Update Blog's take on this.
How about the Food Safety Bill that the Senate voted on recently and how dumbass Harry Reid blew it by adding crap that is going to cause the House to "blue slip" it. Remember, that moron Tom Harkin voted for this crap. Reporters, why don't you ask Harkin if he bothers to read the bills he votes on?
Steve King calls the Pigford settlement "slavery reparations" and the liberals go apeshit. Read the comments here.
Nancy Quellhorst believes that Terry Branstad is going to support the expensive passenger rail line from Iowa City to Chicago that is an hour or two slower than hitchhiking and far more expensive than a MegaBus. Has anybody drug tested her lately?
Last week the Iowa Pharmacy Board voted 6-0 to reclassify marijuana from a Schedule I drug to a Schedule II drug. This makes enormous sense if you know anything about marijuana and examples of the Schedule tables. Unfortunately, Branstad and the other Cavemen Republicans (and scared Democrats) want the issue to go away.
The Burlington Hawk Eye weighed in yesterday on the WikiLeaks espionage case. They say it's no big deal to purposefully reveal 250,000 classified documents during a time of war. It's just embarrassing. If it had been a whistleblower, then the government should have provided the leaker some protection. Can you believe that? I wonder what the Burlington Hawk Eye said about Valerie Plame? Let me guess.
I heard Ed Fallon on the radio last night. He's right about the problem with corporate money corrupting politics, but then he turns around and says Mike "Kiss My Ass!!! Fuck you!!!" Gronstal is a great guy and a good pick for Senate Barely-Majority Leader. I never said I agreed with Ed Fallon about everything, but he's just so gosh darn likable that I could never hold it against him.
Meanwhile, Ken Fuson continues to send angry and threatening comments to the State 29 blog following criticism of a recent column on where he admits a gambling problem. His comments are now marked as Spam, so in the future they will be routed elsewhere and I'll never see them. If you ever figure out how to send an email, Ken, I will get those routed into the Spam folder, too. He's threatening to start a blog and "out" the State 29 blog. Yes, Ken, I used to work for a couple of newspapers and I used to work for the Associated Press, but that was a long long time ago. Since those days I have changed my sex, stopped using heroin, and have become a registered Democrat.
