Weekend Roundup

The Cedar Rapids Gazette thinks Bob Vander Plaats is a "significant political player" in Iowa. Really? You might want to rethink that. He couldn't beat Branstad in the Republican primary and then acted like a spoiled brat. The only thing Vander Plaats was successful at was convincing enough people to oust the Iowa Supreme Court Justices up for retention. Vander Plaats knew that a certain number vote against all or most judges and justices anyway. He was able to successfully corral enough other people to pay attention and vote not to retain. And he did a good job of getting up the asses of all the Editorial Boards and columnists across Iowa. It's probably the most exciting thing to piss off the newspaper elite since Vilsack signed English-only into law.

The Des Moines Register is already printing every hysterical letter they can about the Justice Outsters. Apparently, anybody voting to not retain a judge is now an "angry mob", are "bringing politics to the courtroom", and it's a "reason to leave Iowa". Shut up, cry babies. Gay marriage is still legal in Iowa. Get over it.

According to the Mason City Globe Gazette, Iowa is seeing a 33% increase in Whooping Cough cases. Gee, what group of people don't get their kids immunized, other than a handful of mouth breathers? That's right! Illegal immigrants! But the government and the lamestream media would never break down that statistic and tell you, would they? It's so much better to scare everybody.

I missed the recent story of murderer and former Davenport chiropractor Jim Klindt dying after a fall. Klindt was sent away for about 20 years for killing his wife, cutting her up with a chainsaw, and dumping her remains in the Mississippi River. All columnist Barb Ickes of the Quad City Times can talk about is Klindt's 'secret' recipe for tacos that he used while briefly operating a taco stand in Davenport a few years ago following his release from prison. Now do you all see how tone deaf these moron columnists are?
