David Goodner, the
Jew-hater and professional trouble maker,
got a letter published in the Des Moines Register today:
Remember when we had a budget surplus during the Bill Clinton years? Well, that was before those small government Republicans invaded Iraq and Afghanistan, cut taxes on the rich, privatized most government agencies, and before a deregulated Wall Street crashed the economy.
The current debate over the budget deficit and federal spending ignores the giant elephant in the room in favor of "solutions" that overwhelmingly benefit big business, the rich and the powerful over hardworking everyday people like you and me. That's not right.
The real solution is not to cut Social Security or Medicaid, but to end the wars, cut the bloated Pentagon budget, close the corporate tax loopholes that have outsourced our jobs overseas, restore a sensible tax code so that big business and the rich are paying their fair share, and crack down on corporate greed.
Americans have lost faith in our government because public policy overwhelmingly benefits corporate interests over the needs of the people. The left/right, big/small, Democrat/Republican debate doesn't matter when politicians on both sides of the aisle are on the corporate dole.
European-style austerity measures are on the table. We must look to ourselves and our own organizations for the European-style resistance to fight back as well.
