Goodbye State 29

I've decided that it's really time to get rid of the State 29 blog.

You know, I don't live in Iowa anymore. It's kind of gotten to the point where I just can't keep up with the politics anymore. I'm not coming back, so why bother?

Sure, I've said goodbye before, when I left the state, but this time it's for real.

There's a lot of you who email and comment and link. I figured I owed you one last note before I pulled the plug. Thank you for your continued interest.

Keep up the good fight.

Don't believe any politician.

Be wary of religious types.

Make fun of all the stuff you read in newspapers and see on TV.

Encourage your children.

Say hello to your neighbor.

I don't always agree with your views... but I did enjoy reading. Sorry to see you go.

What the hell, State? Seriously?

Where am I going to get my opposition research done?

I loved reading your views, and we didn't always see eye-to-eye, especially on Hussein Obama, but I will miss your rants.

Take care.

Say it ain't so! Say it ain't so. Loved your take on almost EVERYTHING! Maybe all of us can get you to reconsider? A brilliant mind like yours shouldn't go to waste State ...

Seriously dude, don't do it. Take a break like you've done before.. that's cool, but please, please, please don't delete the blog. There is some good shit out here that we can reference in our blogs for years to come.

Change your login password to something complicated, write it down and stick it in a safe deposit box. That way if you ever want to unretire, you can go get the password, but at least you won't be tempted from day to day to login... I dunno.

Where do we go now? :-)

p.s. what ever you decide, thanks for the years man.. good times.. good times.

It's been a good run. Thanks, and come back sometime.

Good luck to ya. It's been a good run.

I guess it says something about Iowa in the 21st Century that the best two Iowa bloggers live in Chicago and Kansas City.

What a bummer.

I really wish you wouldn't leave. I always knew you would have something interesting to say about something.

I agree with dorf. Change your password, and tuck it a way for safe keeping. People will want to use your incredible stash of insight to share with the rest of the bloggers of the world. Besides, we still need the Des Moines Reg. material out there to help keep them feeling threatened.

Take care, I'll miss you and I do hope that you will come back and that I can find you in whatever form you take. You are a great read.

P.S. The Dr. Max and Mombo clip is a very lovely touch. (sniff)

I'm not one to leave comments, but I can't resist here. You were one of the first blogs to be on my RSS feed and I tried not to miss a day of reading. Like many have said, we don't see eye-to-eye too often, but you've often given me insightful facts and observations that have become integral parts of my own arguments, particularly on oil windfall taxes and underage drinking. Your blog will be missed. Thanks for everything.

This sucks! I've been out in Portland, OR for the past 5 1/2 years and reading your blog kept me up on what was happening back home in Iowa. Figures, I'm moving back late this week and you decide to yank the blog at the same time. At least leave it up for 6 months or a year after you make your last entry so we can go back and read through the archives.

I must register my objection as well to the notion of total deletion. Even if you don't wish to keep writing, I do enjoy linking others to your insightfully vulgar observations from past rants. Hope you reconsider, for my own selfish amusement.

Most of what is on the net is BS. You provided no BS analysis of the everyday BS provided by the BS media, not to mention BS politicians.

Having said that, it's BS you're pulling the plug. But I don't blame you. I never figured out how anyone had the time to do what you do and have a life.

Good luck in KC...it's a great town. Between McCaskill, Sebelius, Cleaver and the rest of the whackjobs you'll never run out of material if you start over there.

I've always enjoyed this place, I'll be sad to see it go.

I hope you change your mind, but I can also understand why you'd like to move on.

I wish you and yours the best of luck in all you do.

Please don't go. Take a break if you need it but don't delete. Reading your blog is like looking through some of the pages of my own diary.

I truly enjoy your humor. Stay awhile longer.

p.s. I was on the Dr. Max show when I was a kid. I still don't like clowns...

At least leave the blog, dude. If it wasn't for you I wouldn't know that it was OK to swear on the interwebs. :-)

Thank you. If you decide to pull off the cape and start again, like James Brown used to do in his stage act...
