Three actors came to the UI in support of presidential-nomination hopeful Barack Obama on Dec. 1, backing his refusing lobbyist money, his health-care plan, and his stance against the war in Iraq from the start.
But the main thrust behind the appearance of Kal Penn from Van Wilder, Olivia Wilde from "The OC," and Megalyn Echikunwoke from the show "24" was to encourage students to caucus Jan. 3.
"Iowa has a particular importance," Penn said. "There's a lot riding on Iowa, and there's a lot of power that voters have here. That's why we're spending a lot more time here early on."

I've never heard of any of these people.
As it turns out, most University of Iowa dorms will stay closed during the caucuses.
Kal Penn is actually on "House" right now, which isn't bad TV.

Upon further review, Olivia Wilde was on House as well.
