This reminds us of Iowa's HF 2242, essentially a 25% additional tax on dildos, porn magazines, and videos sold in Iowa. It was inserted into the Iowa Legislature by Dick Taylor, a Cedar Rapids Democrat, and a bunch of Democrats came together to co-sponsor it. A couple of Republicans signed on as well.

Like the onerous old state liquor stores, Iowans like their guilty pleasures leavened by the righteousness of taxation. The pictures clearly reveal this perverse Iowa phenomenon. Guilt-free state-taxed sex is what they are smiling about.
